What is Cycling Gear?

Very often, we hear the term “cycling gear”. Even though we work selling cycling gear, we don’t really know what exactly falls under that category.
In cycling, the term gear could be taken for a very different thing, but that’s not the type of gear we sell. We do sell gear though, as far as we can tell.

Cycling Gear

So cycling gear falls under what category? Well, there are gears on a bicycle, but that’s not what we think this entails because not many cyclists seem to buy a single cycling gear. Actually, not many cyclists even call it a cycling gear – I don’t know any cyclist that doesn’t call it a chain ring or sprocket.
Cycling Gear is most likely referred to as cycling clothing, but then there is a collection of other bicycle parts and cycling accessories that we could just as easily categorize as cycling gear.

Something has spurred us on to write about this, just as a way of thinking out loud, or on paper – on screen really. What we’re trying to figure out is what people include in it when they talk about cycling gear, but we have a feeling that there will be no one solid answer.
Then there is every different brand and company’s interpretation of what is cycling clothing and what is cycling accessories. So if cycling gear equals cycling clothing, then for all of the people who classify bike parts such as cleats and helmet mounted lights and action cameras, as cycling accessories or bicycle components, where does that leave them?

Is there a no man’s land where these items exist, looking for a place to call home and actually feel really neglected? Or are we just too concerned about classifying our online cycling store perfectly, and all you really care about is getting to the end of this post and then finding great cycling offers on our store?

Is this our cycling gear category?

The Importance of Cycling Accessories

Cycling accessories are really important for every cyclist who wants to improve on the bike whether racing, commuting or enjoying.

We have seen that cycling accessories are becoming increasingly purchased online due to the money saving deals offered by the online bicycle stores in the UK and globally.

Not only are we seeing cycling grow in popularity overall, but we are seeing a reshaping of the u demographics of men and women who take part in cycling as a sport both competitively and for fitness and leisure cycling.

As an online bike shop in the UK, we try to keep up to date with what is happening in cycling in the UK and recent market research shows that cyclists and all members of the UK cycling community are moving more and more to buying bike parts and cycling accessories online.
The jump in growth in cycling has seen the landscape change with the expansion of online bicycle stores across the web who offer discounted pricing on cycle parts, bicycle clothing, cycling accessories, sports nutrition and bike components from all the major brands, where the cyclist can now save up to 60% against high street shops.

While everyone who works here at Alimay Sports have been involved in cycling for a long time, and we've worked with many bike stores, we are seeing many changes from those who sell bicycles, bicycle parts, cycling accessories and all things cycling.
Many Local Bike Shops are moving towards focusing on servicing bicycles and becoming experts in what can't be provided online, and others are expanding with online presence as well.

There is definitely room in the UK for many different channels for cyclists to mix and match how they manage their cycling as a hobby/sport.

Shopping online means more than just bicycle parts, cycling clothing  plus sports nutrition aimed specially at cyclists. The cycle forums are full of posts saying that purchasing bicycle accessories online, including bike parts, wheels, pedals, seats, and more usually cost 20-30% below the traditional bicycle shop prices.

Cycling accessories and bike parts are only a small part of what is important for cyclists in the UK.
We try to provide a holistic line of information for cyclists that discusses all issues for cycling in the UK whether that is performance, health, enjoyment, safety, or spending money for the thrill of a new bicycle product!

While we try to focus on selling the products that cyclists buy most often, the list of cycling accessories that are available could fill 50 pages of our online bike store. So to improve on the experience for cyclists shopping online, we try to focus on small ranges of  the most important and useful bike products from the brands that bring the best products to market both in features for cyclists and prices to keep your wallet on the right side of your financial preferences.
So this means we have bike parts and cycling accessories from brands such as Continental, SRAM, Clarks, Zipp, PowerBar, Santini, and Quarq plus so many more.

Cycling Sunglasses

A Christmas Gift for a cyclist is never typically going to be something most people associate with summer, but cycling sunglasses are important for cyclists every day of the year.

While Cycling Glasses may not be so important for cyclists on an indoor turbo trainer session, every bike ride that happens outdoors should always be seen through sunglasses.

The sunglasses don't have to be dark, they can always be light like the ones below too.

The important thing about cycling glasses is that you protect your eyes in two ways - from the sun, and from dirt.

If you are shopping for a Christmas Gift for a cyclist then this could be the ideal thing. There are some great prices on cycling glasses and cycling clothing, so you don't have to break the bank while finding the perfect gift.

Every Cyclist loves new cycling gear, and by buying him/her a new pair of glasses then you could be doing them a real service by protecting them and keeping them safe.

Cyclists have so many aspects to cover when cycling as a hobby, as a means of transport, or as a sport. The correct bike parts, good cycling accessories and the right equipment is all essential to keep safe on every bike ride and ensure that every ride is enjoyable.

If you or a cyclist friend needs to keep on top of their cycling needs, then check out the bicycle products available in the UK on this online bicycle shop.

Arm Warmers for cycling

When Cycling, Bicycle Clothing such as Arm Warmers and Leg warmers are an essential part of a cyclist's attire during the winter months as the weather is so unpredictable.

Alimay Sports have put together the brands that have made great lengths to improve the comfort, fit, and warmth of arm warmers and leg warmers. You need something from Polaris on those cooler days to provide a little extra warmth. We're not talking full on winter protection, just a thin enough layer to allow the muscles to function without the cold seeping in.

A bicycle clothing brand such as Polaris recognises the need for great cycling clothing with their perfect fitting arm and leg warmers both made with polyester/lycra for warmth and comfort. As well as warmth, comfort is essential whilst cycling and Santini H2O arm and leg warmers provide comfort and also protect against the rain which makes H2O a very popular range amongst cyclist. While most leg warmers turn your ride into a game of tug-o-war from slipping and falling, the H20s stay put. Combined we a have a great variety of choice on offer.
